Have ever lost your phone? Even worse have you ever lost your phone while it was on silent? Where's My Droid will activate the ringer to help you locate your lost phone.
Where's My Droid can help you locate your phone whether you lost it in the couch cushions, left it at a coffee shop, or it's going on a ride across town to call some Nigerian princes.
Where's My Droid (WMD) is a dual-function locator for your Android phone. If you've only misplaced your phone in your immediate surroundings you can send a text message to your phone (or use your cellular provider's email to SMS address) and WMD will increase the volume of your ringer to 100% and then ring for half a minute, one minute, or five minutes to help you locate it by ear.
If your Android phone is out of earshot, you can also text your phone and instead receive the GPS coordinates and a link to Google Maps displaying the location of your phone. The one downside to the GPS trick is that it requires your phone already have GPS enabled. If you want to use the GPS locator in Where's My Droid you'll need to leave your GPS on all the time.
The default text messages the application listens for are "Wheres my droid" and "GPS my droid", you can change them to something more innocuous like "Where you at Zebediah Balthazar? There's a crunk-off at 83rd and Washington!"
